StageStruck Playactors provides training in the performing arts and is composed of over 40 students and teen assistants who learn the basics of acting, singing and movement in the process of creating and rehearsing a show, whose performance is the culmination of the class.
This term’s production is a mixed up Mother Goose adventure tale of three iconic teen-age girls, Dorothy, Wendy and Alice, who become separated from their storybooks, and spend two acts and twenty musical numbers finding their way home, with the aid of a multitude of famous and infamous fairytale characters.

2. A LOUD NOISE IN A PUBLIC PLACE, May 17-22
A play with music, spans four decades in the life of George Metesky, the notorious Mad Bomber, who held New York City hostage in the 1950s with his homemade pipe bombs. In this epic vaudeville, George is an Everyman figure who takes on the established power structure in a quixotic quest for justice, and despite repeated betrayals, rebuffs and indignities, never gives up in his relentlessly determined though monstrously misguided battle for fair play. Ultimately, the show poses the question, What is the proper response to, and is there an antidote for the dehumanization and depersonalization of life in industrial/post-industrial society?

STANDING ROOM ONLY’s production of this musical will be its first full scale presentation, in effect, the World Premiere. The production, as directed by Nancy Tribush Hillman, will use wit and irony to maximize the entertainment value of Metesky’s situation in the style of Bertold Brecht’s Three Penny Opera. She will be aided in this task by musical director Stephen Borsuk and his magnificent arrangements.
