PSE's 'Rock the Bulb' event this weekend

From KOMO-TV 4 News in Seattle:
"Thurston County residents have another chance to save hundreds of dollars on your electric bills during Puget Sound Energy’s ‘Rock the Bulb’ event.

Rock the Bulb offers PSE customers free LED bulbs and compact fluorescent light bulbs in exchange for up to 15 of your old, inefficient incandescent bulbs.

PSE says LED bulbs use up to 80 percent less energy but produce the same quality of brightness of the old bulbs.

During a previous Rock the Bulb event in Thurston County, PSE says nearly 700 customers from Yelm exchanged their old bulbs for nearly 11,000 new compact fluorescent light bulbs and ended up saving a total of $44,000 per year in energy costs.

The next bulb exchange event gets underway at the Fred Meyer in Lacey, 700 Sleater Kinney Road SE, on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 6-7, from 10-4:00p.m."

Editor's Note:
On Sept. 25, a PSE Rep responded to the Yelm City Council during a public hearing when a council member expressed concern about mercury in CFL bulbs distributed here. The PSE Rep said the mercury in CFL bulbs was about the same as in a can of tuna.
How ridiculous.
The council member SHOULD HAVE him asked why these bulbs are considered hazardous waste and must be recycled properly?
Then, he should have asked why PSE dumped free CFL bulbs on Yelm, while Lacey gets the new, non-hazardous LED bulbs.

One has to wonder if the Yelm City Council has a bulb loose or is just not that bright in standing-up for their citizens' welfare!
