"Ramtha's School of Enlightenment (RSE) will hold a Beginning Event Wednesday, June 26, through Sunday, June 30, to introduce new students to Ramtha's teachings and disciplines. RSE's tranquil campus is the ideal environment to experience new potentials, expand your spiritual horizons, and capitalize on the mind's natural abilities.

The Beginning Event allows students to achieve fundamental shifts in personal reality in a retreat setting away from normal activities and distractions. Participants will be introduced to Ramtha's philosophy and given opportunities to engage disciplines designed by Ramtha. The disciplines allow one to test the statement that "you create your own reality." This allows students to experience their own personal truth and their own wisdom rather than rely on belief, faith, or someone else's word.

According to Ramtha's model of reality, we have direct control over how our lives play out. Students will be trained in the art of creating personal reality through a deeper understanding of the brain's mechanics."

- "State Agriculture rejects county bid to restrict insecticide use"
"The state Department of Agriculture has rejected a petition from the Thurston County Commissioners calling for a partial ban on a class of insecticides linked to high mortality in honey bees.

In a letter sent Thursday to the county commissioners, agriculture department director Bud Hover said there is not enough evidence to suggest neonicotinoid insecticides are a significant factor in the decline in bee populations.

The commissioners had requested a countywide ban on ornamental use of this class of insecticides at the request of the Olympia Beekeepers Association, which reported a substantial decline in bee colonies in 2012," quoting John Dodge in The Olympian.
- "Beekeeping Industry 'Doomed' -- Might We See Destruction of Food Supply Before the End of This Decade?"

"For several years now, scientists have been struggling to determine why bee colonies across the world are disappearing—a phenomenon dubbed colony collapse disorder (CCD).

As reported by Dan Rather, the US has recently experienced the highest loss of honeybee populations so far, with most of the nation’s beekeepers losing anywhere from 50 to 90 percent of their bee population.

Honeybees are perhaps one of the least recognized workers in the agricultural industry. They contribute $15 billion in annual agriculture revenue to the US economy alone, as a full one-third of the American food supply depends on them pollinating crops.

Just about every fruit and vegetable you can imagine is dependent on the pollinating services of bees. Apple orchards, for instance, require one colony of bees per acre in order to be adequately pollinated. So, unless the mysterious disappearance of bees is reversed, major food shortages could result.

California Almond Orchards Threatened by Bee Loss

As discussed in Dan Rather’s report, 80 percent of the world’s almonds come from California’s central valley, an 800,000 acre area of almond orchards that are 100 percent dependent on bees pollinating the trees. Surprisingly, almonds are the number one agricultural product in California.

Once a year, in late winter, 1.5 million bee hives from around the country are delivered to these orchards where the bees’ pollination efforts take place over the course of just a few days. It’s the largest mass-pollination effort in the world.

This year, however, the unthinkable happened. Many of the 6,000 orchard owners simply could not find enough bees to pollinate their almond trees, at any price... One of the beekeepers featured in Rather’s report is John Miller, President of the California state Beekepers Association. His family has tended bees since 1894," quoting Dr. Mercola.
While Edward Snowden says he leaked NSA surveillance records and the positioning of government officials to run his name through the mud and hunt him down like a mad dog, CBS News ran a story in May that describes even more intrusiveness by companies into individuals' lives(and of course, governments have this technology, too).

From CBS News 60 Minutes:
"The following is a script from "A Face in the Crowd" which aired on May 19, 2013. Lesley Stahl is the correspondent. Shachar Bar-On, producer."

"Over the last 10 years, the ability of computers to identify faces has gotten 100 times better, a million times faster, and exponentially cheaper.

Yet facial recognition technology is still a work in progress. While investigators in the Boston marathon bombing had multiple images of both suspects, the technology did not come up with a match. They were not identified by their faces, but by their fingerprints! Authorities won't say what went wrong. One possibility is that government data banks - through which the photos would've been searched - are not big enough.

As we discovered, the FBI is working on expanding its database. Businesses are tapping facial recognition to sell us stuff and computer scientists are upgrading the technology."

From Thurston County Solid Waste:

Volunteers Sought to Help Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle
Become a Master Recycler Composter to learn new skills and help your community.

Join fellow fans of waste reduction and become a “green ambassador” for the three “R’s.” Thurston County trains Master Recycler Composter (MRC) volunteers with the purpose of inspiring others to reduce waste, recycle, or compost at home and work.

Over a five week period, MRC volunteers learn how to reduce waste and increase public awareness of opportunities to prevent waste, recycle, and compost in Thurston County.

Participants receive background and hands-on training from county and state educators. Class topics include waste prevention, recycling processes and markets, home composting, worm composting, greener buying choices, how to work with the public plus so much more.

Training will be held every other Tuesday evening, September 3 through October 29. Two Saturday morning field trips are scheduled for September 21 and October 5.

Course graduates agree to give a minimum of 25 hours of yearly service as they put their new skills to use. They work with local organizations, community members, neighborhoods, schools, workplaces, or at special events encouraging waste prevention, recycling and composting. MRCs can design their own projects or work on existing ones. On-going continuing education opportunities will be provided.

Online applications are available now at www.surveymonkey.com/s/MRCApplication. Preference will be given to applicants who live or work within Thurston County. Applications are due August 16 by 5 p.m.

A $75 course fee will be collected at the first class to cover all training supplies and field trips.

"Could revelations about the U.S. government’s massive surveillance program be sending people hunting for that classic novel about a nation under the oppressive rule of "Big Brother?"

Amazon has recorded a spike in sales of the George Orwell novel, “1984” in the wake of revelations about the National Security Agency's data collection programs.

The centennial edition of the book ranked number 4 on the seller’s “movers and shakers list,” as of Tuesday afternoon. Book sales increased by more than 6,000 within the last 24 hours, jumping to the 123rd spot on book sales overall, from it's spot at 7,636 the previous day.

The book, originally published in 1948, centers on a rebellious effort against totalitarianism and was meant to serve as a futuristic look into a government with overreaching powers.

Following a recent Public Documents request from the City of Yelm, once again the results of discovery show that Yelm did not publish the Yelm Park Development Plan for competitive bids, nor did they advertise the project in accordance with state law, RCW 39.80.030.

Does the community REALLY want a Park Plan that excludes the public from the process?
The city's Park Plan comprised:
- NO competitive bids for the park's development plan, no advance publication according to the law (the city Staff Report to City Council is not notifying the public),
- NO public Town Hall or Q & A Forum,
- NO tax payers' input on the tax liability they must incur for 25 years,
- NO invitations for the public to comprise the ad hoc committee,
- NO explanation on other Park plans considered nor why "this is the preferred plan."
- NO community discourse.

From the November 27, 2012 Yelm City Council Meeting Minutes:
"City staff has been in negotiation with Arai Jackson Ellision Murakami, LLP regarding the [park development plan] project."
If this was out for competitive bid, there would be no negotiation, for the bidding process would have been completed listing the cost.

I am in favor of a park overhaul, however public involvement at the grass roots level on this issue and any tax levy must be included. I am a champion for full disclosure on every aspect of the Park Plan.

Yelm Mayor Ron Harding, the Yelm City Council and City Staff have focused on attracting low-cost home developers to Yelm to entice military families to move here. While this has been of great benefit to our servicemen and servicewomen who want to raise their families in a safe environment away from a military base, Yelm's military make-up has grown from 8% in 2005 to over 30% today.

The military being this large of a one group of residents in Yelm is having some unintended consequences, particularly as Sequestration effects take-hold amongst our friends, neighbors and local businesses:

"About 10,000 to stay home on 11 Fridays this summer; commanders warn of negative effects"
June 11, 2013
"Thousands of civilian employees at Joint Base Lewis-McChord will take unpaid days off on 11 straight Fridays in July, August and September – part of a plan intended to concentrate the impacts of Pentagon-mandated furloughs to a single day of the week.

Some details of the four-day work week are still being ironed out, but the proposal would give about 10,000 workers a reliable schedule to plan their furloughs. It also promises to reduce the number of commuters on Interstate 5 on typically traffic-heavy summer Fridays.

A panel of Lewis-McChord Army and Air Force commanders announced the plan Monday and said the furloughs are scheduled to start the week of July 8. They will hit firefighters, mechanics, doctors and many other workers who operate the city-like services at the base south of Tacoma."

"Hundreds of emergency responders, students and school officials in Eatonville participated in an active shooter drill coordinated by Pierce County Emergency Management and hosted by the Eatonville School District that took over two schools and several blocks in the Mount Rainier foothills community.

The event, which included 17 responding agencies from Pierce, King and Snohomish counties, was the culmination of about nine months of emergency response planning that was meant to prepare students, school officials and emergency responders for a large scale school shooting.

Sixth-grader Brooklyn Welch, 12, was the first victim in one of two simulated shooting scenarios. She waited on the floor of the school’s front office for about 40 minutes with a fake gunshot wound to the shoulder, before being carried out by a SWAT team officer in full gear.

"A former CIA employee who identified himself as the source of leaked information about a vast National Security Agency surveillance program signaled the start of a game of international diplomacy Monday [June 10].

Edward Snowden, 29, faces a criminal investigation led by the Department of Justice - but is reportedly holed up in a hotel room in Hong Kong in an attempt to thwart moves to prosecute him.

He told The Guardian, whose reporters are alongside him in Hong Kong, that he had exposed huge amounts of classified information out of conscience to protect 'basic liberties for people around the world.'

Snowden, who is employed by defense contractor Booz Allen Hamilton, hinted that he may seek diplomatic protection from Iceland."

"Snowden traveled to the former British colony – now part of mainland China - on May 20 because 'they have a spirited commitment to free speech and the right of political dissent'"

Hong Kong, which has a separate legal status from Beijing despite being part of China since 1997, has an extradition treaty with the Washington. However, Beijing has a veto over the extradition requests in cases where China’s foreign interests would be affected.

'The only thing I can do is sit here and hope the Hong Kong government does not deport me'” Snowdon told The Guardian. 'My predisposition is to seek asylum in a country with shared values. The nation that most encompasses this is Iceland. They stood up for people over Internet freedom. I have no idea what my future is going to be,'" by Alastair Jamieson and Andrew Rafferty, NBC News.
By Chris Hedges, Truthdig"
"The draconian trial restrictions, familiar to many Muslim Americans tried in the so-called war on terror, presage a future of show trials and blind obedience. Our email and phone records, it is now confirmed, are swept up and stored in perpetuity on government computers. Those who attempt to disclose government crimes can be easily traced and prosecuted under the Espionage Act. Whistle-blowers have no privacy and no legal protection. This is why Edward Snowden—a former CIA technical assistant who worked for a defense contractor with ties to the National Security Agency and who leaked to Glenn Greenwald at The Guardian the information about the National Security Council’s top-secret program to collect Americans’ cellphone metadata, e-mail and other personal data—has fled the United States. The First Amendment is dead. There is no legal mechanism left to challenge the crimes of the power elite. We are bound and shackled. And those individuals who dare to resist face the prospect, if they remain in the country, of joining Manning in prison, perhaps the last refuge for the honest and the brave."
