RAINIER FOOD BANK VOLUNTEER RAISING MONEY FOR CHILDREN

Joy Adams is a volunteer for the Rainier Food Bank sponsored by the Rainier Historical Society. Joy is heading the committee for collecting money for the 100 children whose parent(s) are helped by the Rainier Food Bank.

Joy is asking for your financial contributions and her goal is $1500. With the price of toys and gifts higher this year, she is earmarking $15 per child. Your generous contribution is greatly appreciated.

Joy will be glad to pick up your contributions.
Call her at (360) 446-2076.

PLEASE TELL JOY YOU READ ABOUT HER EFFORTS ON THE YELM COMMUNITY BLOG.

And:
“[RAINIER’S] LEASE FOR CITY FOOD BANK IN DISPUTE”
“The Rainier School District and the community’s food bank thought everyone came out ahead when the district started leasing one of its old buildings to the food bank for a $1 year.
But the state auditor says that the district isn’t charging enough in rent.

‘So what (they are) doing is asking us to charge that out of money they use for food to give to the people who need it in the community?’ Superintendent Dennis Friedrich asked last week….

The sole finding against Rainier during the district’s 2004-06 audit was that the district “is not being sufficiently paid for the land” by the RABC,” quoting The Olympian.
