YELM LIBRARY HOSTS A CONVERSATION WITH AUTHOR BETTYE JOHNSON WEDNESDAY

Bettye Johnsons first book, “Secrets of the Magdalene Scrolls,” is an Independent Publishers Book Award Winner for 2006. Johnson has now published its sequel: “Mary MagdaleneHer Legacy.” Johnson spent years researching Mary Magdalene and has chosen to write her books as works of fiction to provide a fresh approach as to who Mary Magdalene was and why her memory has remained alive. Copies of the books will be available for purchase and signing.

  1. It occurred to me years ago that the reason Christianity blossomed was because of the acceptance and involvement of women. All of the Mary’s were the first mothers and apostles of the church and with out sounding sexist they were the ones that truly understood Christ. The Jewish tradition held the women in very low esteem along with the Romans and Greeks. This new teaching was freedom for these powerful women. I wish I were a writer because I have many more insights into our belief systems. Thank you for letting me share my thoughts. Celeste Scafuri
