“Our stated goal is to act as a hub for local news and entertainment while serving the community as a local forum.”
Marcella Zengota has been a long time Yelm resident, having been born the same year her grandparents moved to Yelm: 1973. She is a 1991 Yelm High grad.
In speaking with the Yelm Community Blog, Marcella was asked what made her think of starting a local internet radio station?
She said she was USA hostess of the Karoake World Championship, which gave her the inspiration for a project for Yelm, as she eventually got burned out on karaoke shows. She loves music and decided to work in her own house here in Yelm & work with musicians to provide them a vehicle in which to be heard.
Nisqually Radio provides an opportunity for the musical community to share their talents with the public and a directory for businesses with their own radio commercial for the local community.
Marcella’s friend Frank added the cookbook.
An art gallery & virtual tour are planned.
Her vision is for her blog and Bulletin Board be an avenue of sharing interests for the entire community.
Marcella explained, “This is open to the community.
Nothing is sold from the website. We provide advertising from the website & link directly to other websites.
There is events calendar & a broadcast calendar.”
You will not read about Nisqually radio in the local newspaper because Marcella explained they consider her Blog and site a competitor and will not provide any information to their readers about her site.
