WILCOX FARMS MARKS 100 YEARS IN AREA!

“This year marks the 100th anniversary of Wilcox Family Farms. While the brand and its products have changed slightly over the years, the Wilcox family commitment to quality has not – and the Northwest egg producer is proud to celebrate a century of farming and entrepreneurial business operations that have helped uniquely shape the Pacific Northwest.

Wilcox Farms Inc. was started in Roy, Wash. in 1909 by Judson and Elizabeth Wilcox. In the beginning, the family raised chickens and vegetables and milked a few cows, peddling the products to the local logging camps.

Back then, it would have been difficult to imagine that the business and a 240 acre farm would grow to 1,800 acres and become home to over one million Leghorn hens and pullets, a shell egg processing plant, and a liquid egg processing plant. Today, the company operates two egg production facilities – in Roy and Aurora, Ore. – and is one of the leading egg producers in the Northwest, with approximately 770,000 eggs gathered daily and packaged for supermarkets and restaurants in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Alaska and California. In addition to shell eggs, Wilcox also provides liquid eggs to food retailers, bakeries and food service operations.

Northwest consumers now find Wilcox eggs in some of the area’s — and nation’s — most well-known retailers, including Costco, Wal-Mart, Albertson’s, Haggen/Top Foods, Metropolitan Market, Target, Walgreen, Rite-Aid, Bartells and many more…

Today, Wilcox Farms remains family-owned and operated, with Andy, Brent and Chris Wilcox still involved in the day-to-day management…

In the year of Wilcox Farms’ centennial anniversary, the company has also earned an additional distinction. All of its farmland has earned 100 percent organic status, of which the family farm harvests organic hay and other crops.

‘We have always been very conscious of the land and our animals, wanting the best care for both,’ says Chris Wilcox. ‘When researching the ‘green movement’ we found that it was nothing new to us. We’ve been ahead of the curve and our goal is to continue setting the highest standards for the next 100 years.’

CONGRATULATIONS to Wilcox Farms and the Wilcox Family for their commitment to quality.
