West Rainier Economic Development Initiative (better known as WREDI) is a non-profit organization promoting the expansion of educational, business, infrastructure, tourism, cultural & natural resources, in the rural portions of Lewis, Pierce, and Thurston counties. Volunteer work groups support each of these areas of interest. With our leadership team, we have compiled both strategic and action plans approved by residents, local and regional government bodies, and business.
Their 2nd annual summit meeting is scheduled for April 14th at the Red Wind Casino. Last year, the summit was attended by over fifty local community leaders, including politicians (e.g. Senator Marilyn Rasmussen & George Sharp of the Dept. of Commerce, representing the Governor), business leaders (e.g. Barrie & Brent Wilcox), and Michael Cade, Executive Director, Thurston Co. EDC. The event was sponsored by the Eatonville Chamber of Commerce and the US Department of Agriculture, Rural Development.
