Ciera Mayes wrote a wonderful article in The Olympian titled
“We need neighborhood farmers markets”
where she says:
“Good health is extremely important in a community. Health is dependent on the food that a person takes in, and if all they are getting is chips and soda from the only little store that is around them for the next 15 blocks, their health will be extremely depleted…
Farmers markets are not only filled with healthful, fresh fruits and vegetables, but the produce also is organic and produced without any pesticides, herbicides or insecticides, which is another great health factor as well…
We need to figure out where the opportune places are for farmers markets in order to create an economic upturn in our lower income population.”
While Yelm has no Farmer’s Market, we have several local assets selling fresh, organic & home-grown products:
– Yelm Food Co-op
– Paradise Organics
– NatureWise Farm Fresh Produce
TELL THESE FINE FOLKS YOU READ ABOUT THEM ON THE YELM COMMUNITY BLOG!
