The Olympian reported February 13th that Carissa Laryn Thomas was acknowledged for
Best personal achievement: Winning the Good Citizenship and Youth of the Year Award for the cities of Yelm, Rainier, McKenna and Roy.
“Nominated by: Jennifer Hewitt, an English teacher at Yelm High School. She wrote: ‘Carissa is an amazing young woman. She is dedicated to her schoolwork, her family, volunteering and making the world around her a place that she is proud of. Ive had the pleasure of having her in class for two years, and I can truly say that she is unique in her focus, drive and determination. She will be successful in her future studies, her life and her career. Everyone that knows her is touched by her kindness.’
