Yelm: Rose 6.05 percent to $36.4 million from $34.3 million…
Although overall taxable retail sales in the county were lower in the first quarter from earlier quarters, a second category of retail sales, which the state Department of Revenue calls retail trade, showed a bit more growth. Retail trade is considered a better measurement of consumer purchases. Thurston County retail trade grew 2.76 percent to $437.5 million from $425.8 million.
Heres how the cities did:
Olympia: Rose 4.29 percent to $199 million from $190.8 million.
Lacey: Rose 0.21 percent to $128.2 million from $127.9 million.
Tumwater: Fell 2.38 percent to $43.6 million from $44.7 million.
Yelm: Rose 3.41 percent to $21.1 million from $20.4 million.
