YELM SCHOOL BOARD SELECTS SCHOOL’S NEW LEADERS

– “New YMS Principal Announced”

“…the Yelm School Board voted to approve Ms. Heidi Bunker as the new Yelm Middle School Principal during its July 28 meeting. She replaces Dave Myers who accepted an administrative position with Black Hills High School.

Ms. Bunker comes to Yelm from Shelton where she has been Principal of Pioneer Intermediate/Middle School for the past four years. Prior to being an administrator, Ms. Bunker was a junior high and high school science teacher.

Superintendent Andy Wolf stated Ms. Bunker was very impressive throughout the hiring process and has a track record of proven leadership. ‘In our reference checks we heard nothing but good things, confirming the positive perceptions of our interview team,’ he said.

‘I am excited to be part of the Yelm community,’ Ms. Bunker stated. ‘I feel it is important to work with parents, community members, staff and students to meet the common goal of reaching a student’s full potential. Working together as a team and making decisions based on what is best for students is the key to overall success. I look forward to meeting everyone at the start of the new school year,'” quoting Yelm Community Schools.

– “Yelm School Board selects new special education director”
“We are pleased to announce the Yelm School Board voted to approve Steve Bigelow as the new Special Services Director during its July 28 meeting. He replaces Gary Potts who retired at the end of the year.

Mr. Bigelow has served as the Assistant Director of Special Services in Yelm for a number of years and was selected as Director through a competitive interview process. ‘Steve demonstrated he is clearly ready to take the lead on the very challenging issues facing Special Education today,’ Superintendent Andy Wolf stated. ‘We know he will be a great fit and has a heart for students.’

The interview process for a new Assistant Director should be completed prior to the next school board meeting,” quoting KOMO-TV 4 News.
