“At the Coos County Fair, this year’s blue-ribbon commercial booth won for providing less service to customers – not more.
At the U-Do-It Slush Factory, you choose a cup, then fill it yourself with slush.
Craving a root beer and orange mixture? You’ve got it. Slush connoisseurs can even buy a special dumbbell-shaped cup and layer the flavors.
Asked for a good combination, U-Do-It employee Mariah Shay of Coos Bay, prepared one of the cups with sour apple at each end and blue raspberry in the middle. It was … raspbapplish.
The do-it-yourself slush dumbbell is just one of the foods you can only get at the fair. It’s the brainchild of Roger Wofford, a Yelm, Wash., concessionaire who’s been supplying the Northwest with corn dogs and curly fries since 1947. A third generation of Woffords is currently helping run the business, which currently fields 10-15 booths at a time,” quoting Gail Elber of The World.
