GUEST ENTRY: JEAN HANDLEY ON LIBRARY PURCHASE TRANSPARENCY ISSUE

Yelm Community Blog reader Jean Handley wrote the following letter regarding the burden of the Yelm Library condo purchase, with September being proclaimed Library Awareness Month by Mayor Ron Harding.

Library Awareness Month Mr. Mayor, should begin by opening up not a book from the library shelf, but the conversations, negotiations and ledgers that exist swirling around the future of this local institution.

We celebrate libraries because when a patron opens a book; they open their minds.

The parties surrounding this issue should take a lesson and engage in transparency so we can all become more aware.”
