“This award recognizes Lackamas as one of the 5% highest improving schools in the state of Washington for Reading and Math achievement over the past five years. Only 53 elementary schools across the state earned this honor.
Dr. Bill Keim, superintendent of Education Service District 113 in Olympia, stated, ‘It is great to recognize the success and hard work of these schools, their staff, and their students since they are among the highest improving schools in the state. The kind of consistent improvement exhibited by these schools is probably the best measure of success we could use in Washington state since it makes the most positive difference for all our students.’
Principal Kurt Fourre credited the school’s improvement to the hard work, programs and processes the staff have put in place to help students achieve at high levels. ‘I am very proud of the commitment our staff has to the district’s mission and vision,’ he said. ‘The Lackamas staff is truly ‘dedicated to learning and achievement.” District-wide initiatives such as Response to Intervention helped create smaller groups for struggling learners,” quoting YCS.
