FROM THE PRESS RELEASE:
YELM FOOD CO-OPS GRAPE THINGS TO COME EVENT TO FEATURE WINE, FOOD AND A HEALTHY SERVING OF HUMOR
Yelm Food Co-op will showcase its wonderful selection of local, organic, and biodynamic wines at Grape Things to Come, its first Help Your Co-op Grow fundraiser.
On October 12 from 7:00-9:30 at Gordon’s Grange in Yelm, wine experts will be on hand to introduce the wines, discuss their growing philosophies and techniques, and present tastes of their offerings. The Co-op will serve a selection of delicious hors d’oeuvres as accompaniments, many from local artisans.
Tickets are $35 per person and can be purchased in advance at the Co-op.
The event planners of “Grape Things to Come” promise a fun twist on the usual dry wine tasting event. They have planned a unique evening of entertainment and levity not to be missed.
In the spirit of cooperation and community, the Co-op is working with Nancy Hillman, the Artistic Director of local theater troupe, Standing Room Only.
Her brainchild for this event: The Not Ready for Prime Wine Players.
Ticket sales and proceeds from an innovative Live Blind Auction will add to the existing Help Your Co-op Grow fund. This Phase One of the Co-ops expansion project consists of a market analysis and feasibility study by CDS Consulting Group, an independent organization specializing in food cooperative development. These studies are necessary steps toward making the Co-op a hub of opportunity and learning in a community with a stable, self-reliant local food economy.
The Yelm Food Co-op, located on 1st Avenue in the Frontier Village Shopping Center, carries organic and whole foods from farmers and companies that employ earth-sustaining food production techniques.
