“TRANSPARENCY IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT”
With the doubling of Yelm’s population in the last 10 years has come a major increase in crime.
Anyone can look at the recent news to see there is a major increase in burglaries, thefts & major crime non-existent 10 years ago.
– Thieves smash car at Yelm Les Schwab in August
– Someone broke into the Mariachi Alegre Mexican Restaurant on Sunday, Oct. 9
– “No bail for Yelm man accused of soliciting judge’s death,” from The Olympian.
The Mayor and City Council should call a public Town Hall Forum to discuss this issue out in the open, as the crime here is reaching a crisis proportion for a town such as this.
Keven Graves is quoted from his November 25, 2005 editorial in the local newspaper:
“We (he & then Mayor-elect Harding) agree that a transparent government is better government.”
The silence from Yelm’s City Hall on the subject of the increasing number & severity of crimes in Yelm is far from an environment of being “a transparent government”.
– An unaware and uninvolved public are Yelm City Council’s greatest allies in carrying forth their agenda.
The Mayor & City Council want to develop Yelm at all costs – including the costs to the way of life around here from the ever-expanding crime rate.
