Brad Shannon of The Olympian reports:
“Steve Hannon, a self-described independent and teacher from Yelm, filed Monday to run in the states new 10th Congressional District, offering himself as an alternative to the partisanship of Congress.

The long-shot filing was among a few small surprises that emerged on the first day of candidate filing week.

A major battle in the 10th between Democrat Denny Heck and two Republicans with military backgrounds Dick Muri of Steilacoom and Stan Flemming of University Place has been shaping up for months, with Heck already reporting that he raised more than $1 million.

Hannon could not be reached to comment about his somewhat under-the-radar campaign. Muri and Flemming both filed Monday, and Heck is expected to follow soon. The new 10th includes Shelton, virtually all of Thurston County and a swath of Pierce County as far north as University Place and Puyallup.”
