Local farmer Bruce Lachney announced today [Jan. 24] he will run for State Senate from the 2nd District. He will challenge incumbent Sen. Randi Becker who has held the position since 2008.
‘Olympia fails to understand our economic future is directly tied to our schools, our colleges, and our universities. Olympia is dismantling our education system. Students are being turned away from higher education opportunities. Senator Becker sits on the Higher Ed and Workforce Development committee. She has failed to help more of our students graduate high school, much less enter college. She has refused to participate in real job creation for the citizens of the 2nd District. I want to take my experience as a businessman, a former school board director, and a technical college trustee and bring a new focus on results to our state capitol,’ said Lachney.
