Prepare for very hot weather Thursday & Friday

From Brian Sandford in The Olympian:
“…the high is expected to hit 89 on Wednesday, followed by 95 on Thursday and 94 on Friday. Those highs approach records for the dates but dont break them. The record high for Aug. 16 is 96 degrees, set in 1967; the record for Aug. 17 is 98, set in 1977.

The weekend is expected to bring some relief, with a high of 82 on Saturday, dropping to 72 on Sunday. Average highs for this time of year are in the mid- to high 70s.

The heat isnt related to drought conditions elsewhere, and this hasnt been a particularly dry summer in South Sound, according to Weather Service meteorologist Mike Mcfarland.”

“Olympia has set several weather records for individual dates this year:

Feb. 21, when the low of 18 degrees was the lowest ever for that date.

April 23, when the high reached 76.

June 1, when the low fell to 31.

June 16, when the low fell to 36.”
