– “Heck giving Knight donation to SafePlace shelter”
Brad Shannon reported in The Olympian earlier today:
“Democratic congressional candidate Denny Heck is giving a $3,500 campaign contribution received from Yelm-based spiritualist JZ Knight to the SafePlaces sexual and domestic violence program in Olympia.”

Heck is running in the newly created 10th Congressional District. The 10th is a Democratic district that gave President Obama 58% of the major party vote in 2008.
– This afternoon, Thurston County Commissioner Sandra Romero also distanced herself from Knight by donating Knight’s contributions, as stated in this Press Release.

– “GOP says Democrats still dancing with the devil after JZ Knight money shuffle”
“State Republican chairman Kirby Wilbur says his Democratic counterpart, Dwight Pelz, has not gone far enough in divesting itself of JZ Knights donations now that the Yelm-based spiritualist has come under fire for anti-gay, Semitic, Catholic and Mexican comments.
Republicans said new campaign finance filings show that the Democrats received money from Knight into their hard-money account, which can be used to directly help candidates. But when the party decided to distance itself from Knight by giving her money away, the party took $35,000 from its soft-money account which is not subject to contribution limits and can only be used for party-building activities and gave it to the pro-gay marriage campaign.”
“Benton Strong, spokesman for the state Democrats, did not dispute that the donation to R-74 was made from soft-money accounts. But he said the party is following through on its promise to donate $70,000 received from Knight to other causes.
‘Weve strongly condemned her remarks and are contributing $35,000 to R-74 and $35,000 to the Anti-Defamation League, as weve pledged to do,’ Strong wrote in an email.
Strong then equated the money from Knight with donations that Republican gubernatorial candidate Rob McKenna has received from oil interests. And he took a shot at the GOPs opposition to R-74 and gay marriage.
‘Has McKenna returned the Tesoro money yet? Has Kirby or McKenna stopped planning to discriminate against gays and lesbians on their ballot yet?’ Strong asked,” quoting Brad Shannon in The Olympian.

– Brad Shanon filed this report in The Olympian today:
“State Senate candidate Bruce Lachney said late Sunday in a statement that he is giving away any donations from Yelm-based spirit-channeler JZ Knight to college scholarships. The move comes after state Democratic chairman Dwight Pelz announced Friday the party is donating $70,000 from Knight to the Anti-Defamation League and the pro-gay marriage referendum, with half going to each.”
“Lachneys statement did not specify the scholarship. Knight has donated $1,800 and her Ramtha School of Enlightenment has donated another $1,800.”

– Jim Vaughn, Major,
US Army Ret.,
Former Candidate for WA State Senate
penned this letter in today’s Nisqually Valley News:
“As a Republican that ran against Bruce Lachney and Randi Becker in the primary, I am livid over the initial mailer that I received from the Republican Party – Senator Randi Becker. Rather than apologizing, a second mailer was sent out.
To compound matters, her campaign created a disgusting website in addition to the mailers. Specifically, it combines different videos to create a false impression of Bruce Lachney, a former Marine Corps fighter pilot, retired Delta Airlines pilot and cranberry farmer has led an exemplary life.
Having campaigned against Bruce, I can say that he is a man of integrity. We share similar views in regards to budget, education, taxes, veteran issues and so on.
Personally, I am embarrassed by the Republican smear campaign in regards to Bruce and JZ Knight (Bruces Elected Advisor Come On). Elected officials represent everyone, JZ Knight included. My hat is off to Bruce for standing up for Democracy and EVERY CITIZEN.
For the Republican Party to attack Bruce for talking to the citizens of a certain group, implies that they are only concerned with representing a specific group of individuals. Party doctrine all the way and this strikes of communism.
Randi is still all about Randi. I am sorry, but not surprised, that her deceitful and illegal tactics against me in the primary have continued against Bruce. He deserves better. For that matter, we all deserve better than Randi representing her special interests. State Senators need to be professional and this is clearly missing in Randi Beckers campaign.
As a Republican, I want to apologize to Bruce. Not all Republicans feel this way nor do we believe these accusations. This website and Randi Becker needs to go away.”

“In response to tremendous pressure from Republicans to return monies donated by Ramtha channel JZ Knight, local Democrats are grabbing a middle ground and giving the money to charity. The action comes as Republicans are in an uproar over videos released this week that show Ramtha giving a profanity-laced teaching condemning the Catholic Church and priests who rape children. The videos are quite provocative and disturbing to many, and one video also castigates Catholics of Mexican descent.
Bruce Lachneys campaign announced today that he is giving his money to unspecified educational scholarships. Mr. Lachney is running for the Washington state senate from the 2nd Legislative District and an official in his campaign has confirmed that it received $3,600 from Ms. Knight. Lachney is challenging the incumbent, Randi Becker (R) from Eatonville.”
“The Lachney-Becker race is considered very close, which is surprising since Beckers seat was once-considered safe for her re-election, and Republicans are pouring money into her campaign.”

From The Encyclopedia of Cleveland History:
“Before Tom L. Johnson became [Cleveland, OH] mayor in 1901, he declared:
‘The public utility corporations are a bunch of thieves. I ought to know. I was one of them.’
As mayor he believed that privately owned utilities were bastions of privilege that would destroy democracy if not controlled. Johnson made his most quoted declaration at one of his famous tent meetings:
‘I believe in municipal ownership of waterworks, of parks, of schools. I believe in the municipal ownership of these monopolies because if you do not own them they in turn will own you. They will rule your politics, corrupt your institutions and finally destroy your liberties.

– From Chelsea Krotzer in The Olympian:
“Thurston County Commissioner Sandra Romero says she hasnt seen anything from Ramthas School of Enlightenment that wold prompt her to return campaign donations from the school and its founder, JZ Knight.”
I asked if they could just give me some demographics of who the school is, and they sent that to me,’ she said.
Those statistics showed the Ramtha school has students from 48 countries and uses six to 14 translators at its events, Romero said. There is also an instructor from the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered community, she added.
‘I havent found anything yet to show that (Knight) is bigoted in any way,’ Romero said. ‘All I am seeing is they are very inclusive.’

– LD2 Candidate Bruce Lachney was quoted in the Nisqually Valley News:
“Although he said he disagreed with Knight’s comments in the video, Lachney added that the United States was built on “tolerance for what people have to say” and the ideas of freedom of speech and religion.
Lachney said he wants to hear Becker admit the video was edited before he will consider returning donations from Knight.
‘If she does that, I’d consider returning the money, but I want to hear from her that the tape was doctored for political profiteering'” he said.

Yelm, Washington. October 26, 2012 JZ Knight and Ramthas School of Enlightenment have learned today that a group responsible for disseminating a misleading and heavily edited video has plans for another posting. The group has now threatened to post a new video that includes several hours of footage from an online event sponsored by the School. The Schools attorneys believe that this may violate copyright law and be in breach of a contract signed by one of the groups members. The School is investigating and will seek legal protection if necessary.
