Flood Awareness Week in Thurston County

From Thurston County Emergency Management:
“The week of October 21 is Flood Awareness Week in Thurston County. Everyone should prepare to deal with the consequences of flooding in our area.

Prepare for disasters of all kinds by stocking up supplies in case of power outages and road closures, make sure your family knows what you expect them to do if an emergency occurs, and prepare to check on and help your loved ones and neighbors if needed. Make sure you have a “go kit” of essential items if you must evacuate. Remember to prepare for your pets’ and livestock’s needs. See our hazard and preparedness links for more information on emergency preparedness.

If you live in an area affected by river flooding, sign up for the county’s telephone alert system to receive flood alerts by phone. Learn how to get river level information and flood watches and warnings online by using the Rivers links on the left side of this web page.”
