Puget Sound volunteers head to East Coast

Roberta Romero filed this report for KING-5 News:
“Two different groups are headed to the area devastated by Superstorm Sandy.

‘We are ready and able to help out the people who were devastated by Hurricane Sandy,’ said Red Cross volunteer Gary Anderson.

Anderson is one of the volunteers who will be sharing driving duties on the five-day cross country trip.”

“The volunteers will be handing out hot meals to the thousands of people who find themselves without power or homes.”

“The volunteers will stay anywhere from 14 to 21 days. If the trucks are still needed, new volunteer crews will rotate in.”

“A convoy of Seattle Public Utility trucks and workers left Joint Base Lewis McChord on Saturday. The trucks and two five-member line crews will be loaded onto military planes and flown to the East Coast.
