From the Press Release:
“Congressman-elect Denny Heck has been named to the influential House Budget Committee for the upcoming Congress. Of the 49 new Democratic members of the U.S. House, Heck will be the only one to serve on the high-profile committee.
The House Budget Committee is chaired by Congressman Paul Ryan, the 2012 Republican nominee for Vice President of the United States. The House Budget Committee sets overall spending levels for all areas of the federal budget. It will be the focal point for upcoming Congressional action relating to the federal budget deficit and for action related to spending throughout the federal government.
‘The House Budget Committee is going to be at the heart of the biggest debate that will take place in Congress over the next two years. I look forward to working with members of both parties on passing a budget that reduces the federal deficit, helps create jobs, and keeps the American Dream alive for the middle class and those working to get into it,’ Heck said.”
