‘South Sound Seed Savers’ begin 2013 classes Monday

The South Sound Seed Stewards (aka S4) start the 2013 classes and programs on Jan. 14.

S4s mission is to encourage community independence and self-reliance through producing and sharing locally adapted heirloom and open-pollinated seeds. The organization of volunteers offers programs and classes that teach the art and science of seed saving.

S4 meets the second Monday of the month at the Yelm Adult/Senior Center located at 16530 SE 103 Ave. in Yelm.

Registration for the new year begins at 6:00 p.m. on the 14th.
The program will cover ordering seeds for the new vegetable garden.

2013 programs and classes include crop rotation, companion planting, beneficial insects, basic botany, seed starting, preserving the harvest and more.
