Yelm Community Services – 22 Years of Service
Based on reports from Yelm Community Services, the year-over-year increases in families served holiday meals rose in Yelm at a stunning rate of 33% the last two years.
Yelm Community Services said in a published story they distributed meals to 400 families in 2012.
In 2011, approximately 300 families were provided Christmas meals
and
Popeye’s Fried Chicken supplied 300 Thanksgiving meals that same year.
This amounts to a 33% increase year-over-year 2011-2012 in support of needy families during the holidays.
And an equally large increase was noted from 2010 to 2011.
This is in addition to new holiday food distribution programs like the Yelm Food Co-op’s 2nd annual Thanksgiving Feast which served 83 in 2012 and Faith Harvest Helpers, which had a large food distribution program during the 2012 holidays and was named Thurston County’s non-profit of the year.
Clearly this community is a giving one.
Clearly, the needs of those requiring our assistance is growing here at an alarming rate!
