Candidates file – Yelm voters have few choices – AGAIN!

Candidate Filing Week for the August 6, 2013 Primary Ballot closed May 17, 2013. The following is the list:

Yelm positions:
– Mayor, Ron Harding, unopposed

Ed. Note:
Unopposed again is two-term Mayor Ron Harding, who filed for a 3rd term, a $30,000 a year part-time position to add to his current full-time Thurston County Deputy Auditor day job, a $70.000 a year position plus benefits. With a combined salary and benefits package, Harding’s annual take at the public trough is valued at approx. $125,000+.

– 4 City Council seats
Pos. 3 – Robert W. (Bob) Isom, current Mayor Pro-tem, unopposed, with NO opposition since prior to the 2001 election, almost 16 years!
Pos. 4 – Mike McGowan, opponent Joe DePinto [dropped-out May 19]
Pos. 5 – Tracey T. Wood, unopposed
Pos. 7 – Russ Hendrickson, unopposed
Besides Mr. Wood who is completing his first term, all other Council members previously ran unopposed in 2009.

– Yelm School Board
Yelm area voters finally get a choice on the School Board
District #1 – William A. Hashim, Mark L. Rohwedder
District #4 – Debbie Edwards, unopposed

– Thurston County Auditor
Gary Alexander – R
Mary Hall – D

– Rainier positions:
Mayor – Randy Schleis, unopposed
3 City Council seats
Pos. 1 – Kristin Guizzetti, unopposed
Pos. 3 – Mokihana Presley, unopposed
Pos. 5 – Christine Winslow, unopposed

– Tenino positions:
4 City Council seats
Pos. 1 – Bret D. Brodersen, opposed by Sirena Painter & Fran Anderson
Pos. 2 – David Watterson, unopposed
Pos. 3 – John J. Callahan, Robert D. Scribner, Terrence (Terry) Hickey
Pos. 4 – Craig Lester, Cynthia (Cindy) Palm
