YELM FOOD CO-OP ANNOUNCES FOURTH ANNUAL “GIFT OF GOBBLE”
This Thanksgiving the Yelm Food Co-op will once again contribute to our communitys ongoing work of nourishing families in need through a project called “Feed a Family – Give the Gift of Gobble.”
To raise the needed funds, donations of any dollar amount are being accepted at the Yelm Food Co-op between October 10 and November 30, 2013.
Last year the project raised enough money to feed 86 families. This year the Co-op has set a goal of feeding 100 families. In addition to accepting individual community members contributions, project volunteers will call on area businesses for donations.
Just $50 will provide all the ingredients for a full Thanksgiving feast that feeds a family of six or more:
a naturally-grown turkey, organic vegetables and potatoes, stuffing mix, cranberry sauce, dinner rolls, pie fixings and more.
Weve seen the joy and tears on enough faces each year on meal pick-up days to know that what were doing really matters to these families, says project volunteer Andrea Levanti.
The Yelm Food Co-op, located at 308 Yelm Avenue East inside the Gordons Garden complex in Yelm, carries organic and whole foods from farmers and companies that employ earth-friendly practices.
