I said on this Blog October 1, 2013 that the Yelm City Council had an opportunity to take the lead on what would surely become a county-wide issue, that of a plastic grocery bag ban.
Of course, the Yelm City Council voted to shove this to the back-burner and take a backseat on this issue.
Now with Lacey joining Olympia, Tumwater and unincorporated Thurston County approving the plastic bag ban, Yelm, Tenino, Rainier and Bucoda have yet to vote for this.
However, Yelm’s City Council WILL now be forced to vote for a plastic bag ban, as they are the much larger of the 4 towns not approving the ban and have major plastic bag contributors in the county with a Super Safeway and Wal-Mart.
