Yelm in national news yet again – 33 underagers arrested

“It’s high-school-graduation season, and that means it’s also young-people-drinking-and-getting-arrested-at-graduation-parties season.

To that end, Thurston County’s Party Intervention Patrol — basically the anti-Andrew W.K. — arrested 33 underage people Saturday at a graduation and birthday party in Yelm.

According to the Thurston County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, more than 60 current and former Yelm High School students had been at the party, which featured a keg, drinking games and hard liquor.

Some of the suspected underage drinkers were as young as 16, and one 19-year-old reportedly had a blood-alcohol-content level of 0.174,” quoting Michael Harthorne, KOMO-TV 4 in Seattle
