“Our summer months have flown by and that means that the start of school is just around the corner. Our grounds, maintenance, custodial, mechanic and paint crews have all been busy preparing our facilities and transportation fleet to welcome the students back on the first day of school September 2.
Teacher training starts up in early August as they, too, make their final preparations to ensure they are ready to receive our students and provide the best education possible. We are fortunate to have so many teachers here in Yelm who continue to find ways to improve their skills over the summer months so our students can reach their full potential.
I strongly encourage families to start building a schedule at home now that will help their childrens transition back to school be more successful. We often see students who experience regression in their learning over the summer because they have not practiced the skills they learned in school.”
“Speaking of our website, a popular feature we introduced last year will once again be available. Parents can make online payments for things like student food service accounts and some fees. This is a real convenience for parents who can access the site from home, work or anywhere else. Find the site at www.ycs.wednet.edu/payments.
As always, I would like to thank the community of Yelm and surrounding area for their support of our children and schools. We are looking forward to the 2014-15 school year with great anticipation,” quoting the Yelm Community Schools website.
