Yelm seeks applications for City Council opening

The City of Yelm is currently accepting applications for Yelm City Council, Position No. 4.

From the City of Yelm website:
Yelm City Council Vacancy – Position 4 to replace Mike McGowan
Appointed term expires December 2015
Position 4 will appear on the 2015 ballot as an ‘unexpired 2-year term, 2016-2017’

“This term will fill the vacancy of an unexpired term. The seven member Council meets for 3 regularly scheduled monthly meetings. Additional meetings are held as necessary. Each council member also serves as a representative on one or more local or regional boards, councils, or committees.
Monthly compensation: $600.
To qualify, you must be a registered voter and reside within the city limits of Yelm for a period of at least one year preceding appointment.
Applications are available at Yelm City Hall, 105 Yelm Avenue West, or at the City of Yelm website www.ci.yelm.wa.us.
The Yelm City Clerk must receive completed application by 5:00 p.m., September 19, 2014.”

Editor’s Note:
While Mayor Harding certainly has his own successor to Mike McGowan already assigned in his mind, this should not discourage others from submitting their applications. The mayor’s appointment is only until the November 2015 election for this seat.
