From the Press Release:
“On Tuesday, October 28th at 4:00 p.m., the newly-formed Yelm Business Association will be having its first general meeting at the Triad Theater, 102 Yelm Avenue East. Current members as well as any local business owners or those who have business interests in the city of Yelm are invited to attend. The YBA Board of Directors will be sharing some of their thoughts on priority issues and direction, but want to hear directly from other business-owners about important issues in the business community.
Several months ago, a small group of local business owners formed the YBA, basing their model on that of the Olympia Downtown Association and other similar associations. The purpose of the YBA is to provide a voice for local business owners in City government, as well as to advocate for policies and programs that support local businesses and the ability of those businesses to continue to hire employees and reinforce the local economy. A significant number of local businesses have expressed concerns that their voices are not being heard by the City of Yelm government, and this organization was formed to address those concerns directly with Yelms leadership.
The stated mission of YBA is to preserve, promote, and enhance Yelms locally-owned businesses by acting as an advocate to local government, by improving Yelms aesthetic appeal, and by encouraging citizen and business involvement in the community. The organization has also incorporated as a non-profit corporation and has applied to the IRS for 501(c)(6) status.”
