– “Phoenix Rising Schools Friday Workshops Bring Real World Skills, and Joy, to Kids”
“‘It is a problem that so many children love learning and hate school,’ says Nick Gillon, The Phoenix Rising Schools Education Director.”
“But learning encompasses many other skills which are applicable in everyday life, which is why every Friday, Phoenix students from kindergarten through 6th grade get the chance to participate in workshops that run the gamut from crochet to canning, bmx bikes to propulsion science, and acrogym to candle making. The result is enthusiasm, new skills, pride in their work and dare we say it? joy,” quoting Phoenix Rising School’s write-up in Thurston Talk.
– “What a Day! Community Turns Out for Donor Appreciation Even”
“Hugs, laughs and good will flowed freely last Saturday as nearly 140 people, including many children, poured onto the Phoenix Rising campus for Donor Appreciation Day [Saturday., September 26]. ‘It was great to see so many faces of people who support our efforts,’ says Communication and Outreach Manager Heidi Smith, the event’s coordinator. ‘The whole day had a wonderful feeling of community that we will build on as we add new families and continue to expand.’
Donors and friends, one visiting all the way from Germany, got a chance to tour the campus and listen to several alumni talk about how their experience as students here continues to impact their lives today,” quoting Rainier’s Phoenix Rising School.
