Thurston County online business survey to reduce waste

– “Online survey seeks to help Thurston County businesses reduce waste”
“In an effort to reduce the amount of waste businesses send to the landfill, Thurston County has launched a new online survey for business owners and employees.

Nearly half of Thurston County’s waste comes from local businesses, creating 77,000 tons of trash each year, according to the county.

An online survey asks business owners, managers and employees about their current recycling program, the reasons the business is or is not recycling, and allows them to request free technical service from solid waste experts.”

“Those who take the survey can enter a drawing to win a $100 credit toward their business’ garbage bill.

The efforts are aimed at reducing recyclable material thrown away in landfills, and to limit food waste by connecting businesses to food donation outlets and helping setup organics collection.”

“The survey runs through Aug. 31 and can be found at www.surveymonkey.com/r/bizwaste.” quoting The Chronicle (Centralia), in The Olympian.
