Thurston County Commissioners announced Agritourism Committee –
To promote Thurston Bountiful Byway through Yelm

– Thuurston County Commissioners introduced the Agritourism Advisory Committee.
The seven-member Agritourism Advisory Committee was announced on October 6 by the Thurston County Commissioners, which will make recommendations to the county to help focus agritourism efforts. That includes the Thurston Bountiful Byway through Yelm, and the Agritourism Overlay District, which seeks to relax permitting requirements for agricultural uses.

The committee will also work with the Olympia Lacey Tumwater Visitor and Convention Bureau to develop a marketing plan for the Thurston Bountiful Byway.

Thurston County Commissioner Sandra Romero said, “It is my hope, that by creating the Agritourism Advisory Committee, and by entering into this Memorandum of Understanding with the Visitor and Convention Bureau, we will be able to promote a new kind of tourism in Thurston County. This tourism program will highlight the bounty of our region and showcase not only the beauty of the area but the hospitality of our rural citizens.”

Membership on the Agritourism Advisory Committee is open to the public. For more information visit http://www.co.thurston.wa.us/bocc/boards-list.htm
