Position 6: 2012 – 2015 Term
Serving his first term, Councilmember Garmann serves on the Yelm Transportation Committee and represents Yelm on the Thurston County Law and Justice Committee.

– Since there is no December 22nd City Council meeting, this was Garmann’s last.

– Three City Councilors “abstain” from 2016 budget vote
In a rare and surprise move, Councilors Garmann and Baker abstained from a budget vote, citing their last council session was tonight. Mayor Harding reminded them they are still on the Council and can vote. They declined.
Councilor Tad Stillwell cited this as his 2nd Council meeting and was not involved in the Budget process to be able to properly cast a vote.

Editor’s Note:
Very unusual for two sitting Councilors who have been involved in the 2016 Budget process to abstain, even if they are no longer on the Council after the December 29th swearing-in date of their successors. That action gives an appearance that Councilors Baker and Garmann want no part of any issue that may arise in 2016 as a result of this budget, which begs a question, “What objections did they see in this Budget that they chose to abstain and for which the public will not know?” hmmmm.
