In recent years, since the Great Recession, many families across the South Sound have experienced hardships and depended on social services to get by. On Monday, January 25, join Commissioner Romero and her guest, Family Support Center director Shelli Slaughter, for coffee, and learn about resources available to Thurston County families in need.
Schelli Slaughter has been the Executive Director of FSC since 2006 and has been employed at the agency since 2004. Schelli brings her vast social service experience and expertise to our community in the areas of affordable housing and homelessness, domestic violence and sexual assault, child abuse and neglect prevention, and maternal/child health.
Commissioner Romero meets once a month with community members for informal coffee chats on a wide variety of local issues. At the end of the guest presentation you will have an opportunity to talk about issues of concern, ask her questions about the county, and share ideas. Romero is the representative of District 2, which includes Yelm, Lacey, and Rainier.
