Yelm Public Safety Building & Council Chambers
– Yelm City Council has a packed Agenda Tuesday
After last month’s embarrassment to Mayor Haring with a challenge by several Council members about his only City Administrator candidate, one with an extensive array of unvetted “baggage” by Mr. Harding who he eventually withdrew when faced with the councilors’ evidence, Mr. Harding finally provides the Council with new business on their agenda tomorrow, after a month with none. Two major projects of note:
1. Ordinance Number 1013 opens the door to Uber and other ride-sharing services
Interlocal Agreement with Cities of Yelm, Olympia, Lacey and Tumwater for Administration and Enforcement of Occupational Permits for Transportation Network Companies
This would allow Uber and other similar companies to serve our area.
2. Engagement for Professional Recruitment of City Administrator
Mayor Harding’s poor leadership is clearly underscored that next week marks one year since former City Administrator Shelly Badger gave notice to resign (Friday, June 5, 2015) and Mr. Harding is just now requesting the Council’s permission to hire a firm for Professional Recruitment of a City Administrator. He should have presented this to the Council on Tuesday, June 9, 2015! For almost a year, this Blogger has recommended Mr. Harding authorize the hiring of “Head Hunter” (talent recruitment specialist) to fill the city’s top paid-staff position.
