Derek Maynes (D-Puyallup) is running for the Legislative District 2 seat currently held by J. T. Wilcox.
The Yelm Community Blogger recently sat down with Derek in Yelm and shared with him issues of note for Yelm Blog readers, including and not limited to social problems in the wake of 2 horrific suicides.

This is from the Elect Derek Maynes website:
Integrity, Service Before Self, Excellence In All We Do

These are core values of the Air Force, values that the Air Force instilled in me and values that continue to define who I am today.

Coupling these values with my leadership experience makes me the ideal candidate to lead the 2nd Legislative District into the future.

I am asking you to give me the opportunity to serve again.

Derek penned these comments for Yelm Community Blog readers – in his own words:

Vision Statement
Not all of us are Democrats,

Not all of us are Republicans,

But we are all Washingtonians.

We need a bipartisan House that will work together to resolve real issues.

Issues that affect us as all,

From an underfunded educational system to a congested transportation system,

We have real issues that need real solutions.

Yes I am a Democrat but more than a Democrat, I am a Washingtonian.

I am not here to occupy a seat,

I am not here to vote the party line,

I am here to work.

To work hard for the great state of Washington.

To resolve difficult issues with the same drive and tenacity that that have proven successful in my personal and professional life.

A vote for myself is a vote for a leader,

A leader who is ready, willing, and able to work with anyone for the greater good of Washington State, not a political party.

Now is the time to turn the House from an ineffective partisan branch of government into a platform of successful bipartisan politics.

Stand with me and let’s make Washington Great!

The Yelm Community Blog endorses Derek Maynes for LD2 Rep.
Derek’s stand is to represent everyone in his district and to not exclude anyone, unlike his opponent, who will not meet with nor visit certain groups and individuals he decides to not associate. What kind of a Representative to the State Legislature is his opponenet with such an attitude?
