FOR THE SOUTHWEST INTERIOR [Olympia, Yelm, and vicinity]
“HIGH PRESSURE ALOFT AND LOW LEVEL OFFSHORE FLOW WILL RESULT IN AND EXTENDED PERIOD OF HOT WEATHER FOR WESTERN WASHINGTON THURSDAY THROUGH SATURDAY. RECORD HIGHS ARE LIKELY IN MANY LOCATIONS. THE HOTTEST DAYS AT THE COAST WILL BE THURSDAY AND FRIDAY WITH COOLING ON SATURDAY. THE HOTTEST DAYS FOR THE INTERIOR WILL BE FRIDAY AND SATURDAY.THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SEATTLE HAS ISSUED AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING… WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM THURSDAY TO 9 PM PDT SATURDAY. THE EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.”
“AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNINGS MEANS THAT A PROLONGED PERIOD OF DANGEROUSLY HOT TEMPERATURES WILL OCCUR, CREATING A SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES ARE LIKELY. DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS (NOT ALCOHOL), SEEK AN AIR-CONDITIONED PLACE, STAY OUT OF THE SUN, AND CHECK UP ON RELATIVES AND NEIGHBORS.”

Friday and Saturday’s forecasts of upper 90’s in Yelm and near 100 in the Bald Hills are expected to break all-time record high temperatures for those dates (94 and 93 respectively).
