– Yelm set to lose First Citizens Bank
First Citizens Bank will close their Yelm Branch on November 16, 2016, leaving only two branches left in Washington State: Fircrest and Lacey, plus an ATM-only facility in Eatonville according to a spokeswoman for the North Carolina-based bank earlier today.
First Citizens Bank & Trust Co. of Raleigh, N.C., has operated in South Sound since Sept. 11, 2009, upon acquisition of Venture Bank of Lacey, a failed bank that was closed by state regulators and sold to First Citizens in a deal brokered by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
First Citizens in Thurston County, after the Yelm branch closes, will have a branch only in Lacey, and Yelm customers may access all banking services there:

Editor’s Note:
This blogger will miss the smiling faces of long-time employees who served First Citizens customers and their predecessor Venture Bank. I wish them well in their future endeavors.
This bank’s closing marks a sad end to a long history of this banks incarnations led by poor decision-making in management and in leadership involving several big names from around Yelm.
Unless another financial institution comes to Yelm, we will see another empty building in our midst.
