NEWS RELEASE from the City of Yelm
Sunday, December 18
Residents and businesses are experiencing extremely low water pressure and the issue should be resolved early this evening. The water is safe to drink. However, limiting water use (laundry, dishwashing, etc.) is recommended until normal pressure returns.
The problem is the result of the automated alert system not notifying Water System Operators of tanks and water pressure at an extreme low level. We are actively working to restore water pressure within the system and fill water reservoirs to their normal operating levels. Doing so will take several hours.
City employees will meet with the technicians and contractors who created the system to review the problem and develop a plan to prevent the notification system from failing in the future.
We apologize for any inconvenience and are working to resolve this as soon as possible. If after this evening (approximately 6 PM) you still have extreme low water pressure, or have on-going issues, please feel to contact (350) 458-8406.
PLEASE SHARE THIS INFORMATION WITH YOUR NEIGHBORS. We are sending out a community notification and posting this on social media to keep our community informed.
