– Mayor Schleis was to deliver Rainier’s State of the City address this Tuesday at the Yelm Chamber of Commerce’s monthly Forum, along with Yelm’s interim Mayor JW Foster.

– From S. E Thurston Fire Authority Commissioner Chair Jonathan Sprouffske:
“Last night [March 9, 10] S. E. Thurston Fire Authority lost a great friend and leader with the passing of City of Rainier Mayor Randy Schleis. Randy lived his life as a constant example of how one man, focused on the betterment of his community, can make a difference. I had the pleasure of working with him over the years on a variety of projects. He always resonated true kindness whether we were on the same side of supporting a levy, or on opposite sides arguing over annexation issues. Thank you Randy for all that you did for our greater community, and thank you for leaving our corner of the world better than you found it. Our thoughts and prayers are with Kathie, and all of his extended family.”
