– From the Yelm Police Dept., 3:30pm
“ALL LANES ARE NOW OPEN ON 1-5 NB. At 1:36 p.m. the State Patrol cleared all lanes of I-5 NB after a fatality accident earlier today. For a period of time all lanes of I-5 NB were closed for the accident investigation and WSDOT was advising drivers to detour through Yelm. It will take a period of time for the traffic congestion in Yelm to clear up and resume normal Friday afternoon flow.
If you can, avoid driving in or through the City.
Emergency workers are very busy handling traffic related incidents along with regular service call volume. Please be patient and don’t call 911 unless there is an emergency.”
