– Editor’s note:
Now this is a message from a candidate who serves Yelm in the public’s interests, not just his own!

– From the Facebook post of Joe DePinto for Mayor of Yelm:
Please register to vote or update your registration so you can vote in this November’s election that will include my race for Mayor of Yelm.

In Yelm, we historically have a low voter turnout which means that a small amount of people determine the future of our town. It can and will determine our water rates, our taxes, public safety levels, recreational opportunities and so much more. You should know by now where I stand on these local issues but if you want to know more, please visit my website or send me a message and I would be happy to meet you in person to discuss in detail my vision and plan for Yelm.

Registering and updating your voter info is super easy and super quick. Click here for the link to the Secretary of States Office that will get you hooked up. All you need is your drivers license or state ID to register or update online. It literally takes under 4 minutes. (If you don’t live In Yelm this will still work if your a WA resident)

In 2015 Yelm had a councilmember win his election by 7 votes. Your vote WILL COUNT and MATTERS in this upcoming election! Please vote!

I-5 yet again impacts Yelm Ave. eastbound traffic –
Rochester fires affecting Yelm traffic and adding smoky haze

With I-5 northbound a virtual parking lot from Olympia/Lacey to WA Hwy. 512 in South Tacoma (that 20 mile stretch is currently clocking in at 80 minutes), Yelm Ave. is yet again bearing the brunt of GPS reroutings via Hwy 510 and Hwy. 507 to get north. In questioning business owners along Yelm Ave., they really take a hit to their business activity when our town’s main thoroughfare is snarled with traffic, as drivers just want to keep moving. Puget Sound residents returning from watching the eclipse in Oregon is also having an impact today.
Click here for traffic updates from the Washington State Patrol.
