The Chicago Daily Tribune prematurely printed
incorrect winner of the 1948 Presidential race.
To be repeated in Yelm when DePinto wins?
– The Thurston County Auditor’s Office released election results at approximately 5:45pm this evening, which demonstrated a shift since last night, with mayoral candidate Joe DePinto now only 18 votes from Foster’s total, a huge catch-up for him Tuesday’s initial results.
The race for mayor is not over, regardless of the Nisqually Valley News (NVN) anointing Foster as Yelm mayor. The next update will be Monday evening, November 13th. Trending in Colt’s favor to soundly defeat Hendrickson, who was 2 votes ahead in the initial Tuesday results, and Kaminski still maintains a comfortable lead over Blair. Total votes listed below do not include write-ins.
City of Yelm Mayor
Joe DePinto 599
JW Foster 617
Difference = 18 votes
Total Votes 1,216
– Editor’s note:
Would be interesting if DePinto wins, for then he can hold-up this week’s NVN with the headline of Foster’s incorrect victory, just like Truman did with the Chicago Tribune in the 1948 Presidential election.
