Sea-Tac Airport holiday traveler tips from the Port of Seattle

TSA has tips for getting through security here.

“Shopping malls won’t be the only busy places this holiday season. From December 15-January 2, more than two and a half million passengers are expected to pass through Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, the nation’s ninth-busiest airport.

In excess of 2,507,200 travelers are expected to arrive, depart, or connect to other destinations through Sea-Tac. The three most heavily-traveled days are forecast to be:

Food, Gifts, Reindeer, Music and Other Festivities Planned

Traveling with Food or Presents?
Food is permitted in carry-on bags, but if travelers don’t plan on eating it in the airport or on board the plane, it’s recommended that any other food is packed in checked luggage. This should speed up the security lines and get passengers to their flights quicker. If traveling with gifts, place them in gift bags instead of wrapping them. If TSA needs to take a closer look at a package, they will unwrap the gift to do their job.

Over the River and Through the Woods
Maybe you’re not taking the sleigh to Grandmother’s house for the holidays, but heading to the airport for a flight to visit Granny or pick her up. Be aware – the drives will be congested with lots of people doing the same.

Once again, travelers making their way to the airport are encouraged to take light rail, public transit, taxis or rideshare cars. The shortest way to the airport may not be the most direct; watch this video for travel tips to get to Sea-Tac for your flight or to meet a passenger.
