– From KIRO-TV 7 in Seattle and via the AP:
“The Yelm Police Department is investigating accusations of groping during a holiday choir concert at Yelm High School on Wednesday [Dec. 13].
“According to Yelm Community Schools, four students reported that a classmate grabbed their buttocks while on stage during the evening performance in front of an auditorium full of people.”
“So far, investigators say they have not identified the suspected student.”
– Editor’s Note:
Yelm Community Schools Twitter description states, ” Yelm Community Schools is a welcoming, safe, student-centered, collaborative learning environment dedicated to helping students achieve their full potential.”
Note a key word used is “safe.”
The education about sexual harassment/assault this country is facing right now begins with teenagers in our schools. Yelm Schools must be a SAFE environment for everyone without exception, full stop!
In response to Matt Damon’s interview where his views of the sexual harassment/assault issues were explained, Michelle Demons’ Tweet this morning puts this in a perfectly clear context:
“Listen up. All you straight men- if you are unsure how to act around women or what to say to them, please filter your actions in the following way 1. Consider wether (sic) you would act that way with another straight man and if the answer is no ——then DONT DO IT”
Evette Dionne Tweeted:
“Each violation fuels rape culture and sends the message that a woman’s body is not hers alone.”
– Bottom line:
I am certain Yelm Community Schools will be adding sexual harassment education to their curriculum, just like Congress and our State Legislature. This behavior is no longer tolerated, though the true education of morals and ethics for our children are best taught in the home. The time has come for America to “grow-up” on this issue!
