Rite-Aid being bought by Safeway’s parent, Albertson’s –
More consolidation under one owner for 2 long-time Yelm operators

This transaction involves the 139 Rite Aid stores in Washington state.
Safeway and their parent company Albertson’s use direct mail marketing for their weekly specials. Rite-Aid places their insert in the Nisqually Valley News (NVN). After the merger has concluded, the NVN could also lose the Rite-Aid inserts advertising.

“Albertsons, the privately held owner of Safeway, Vons, and other grocery brands, is plunging deeper into the pharmacy business with a deal to buy Rite Aid, the nation’s third-largest drugstore chain.”

“Albertsons said it will continue to run Rite Aid stand-alone stores, and most of the grocery operator’s pharmacies will be rebranded as Rite Aid,” by the Associated Press, via NBC News.
